Blog #7 - Friend with a STD
I actually had a friend that thought she had a STD and did not want to get tested. I found out afterwards, so I was not able to talk to her about it but I do know what I would have told her. If you feel like you have a STD, it is extremely important to get tested as soon as possible. This will prevent the disease from becoming worse and causing more problems, and women have a lot more at risk from STDs. A STD untreated could cause a women to lose their fertility and it could cause them to have their uterus removed. This is why it is so important to be tested right away. Not to mention to stop the spreading of the disease. You have to think of other people besides yourself!

The issue of fertility and STD is very important. Women are especially vulnerable to losing their fertility as a consequence of acquiring STDs. Having medical intervention in a timely manner could save a woman’s fertility. I particularly like your comment about thinking about other people besides yourself in relation to STD. By avoiding sexual contact you are thinking about other people beside yourself.
Good post! I too would encourage my friend to seek testing if they thought they might have an STD. There are many STD's that can be treated and others that can be managed. Without care, you are so right, the risks are huge! Also, knowing that you might have an STD and not considering other future (or current partners) is very selfish, you have to think as if the tables were turned.
Your post had some intersting points. When I was reading your post, I was thinking about the HPV vaccine and the cancer it causes in many females. If I was a female, I believe most likely I would get myself vaccinated too.
